RALEIGH, N.C. — The Technology & Maintenance Council added a new study group, elevating its Service Provider Committee to study group status.

The action was announced here this week at TMC’s fall meeting. The service provider group — TMC’s 12th study group — will examine issues arising from the relationship between trucking fleets and companies providing maintenance services.

TMC is part of American Trucking Associations. Its study groups are permanent committees that deal with large, on-going maintenance issues such as engines, tires and wheels, chassis and brakes, and onboard vehicle electronics.

Study groups often create subcommittees called task forces to work on limited issues on a temporary basis. That work can lead to the development of TMC recommended practice guidelines for engineering and maintenance procedures.
