Steven Rubin has been named CEO at ITS Technologies & Logistics, which operates more than 90 intermodal rail and automotive facilities. He is formerly the top executive at ocean carrier Horizon Lines.

The announcement followed the sale of Horizon Lines assets in separate bankruptcy-related transactions to Pasha Group and Matson Inc. Rubin also has been CEO of intermodal equipment lessor TRAC Intermodal and group vice president for Kawasaki Kaisen Kasha, a Japanese ocean carrier.

ITSTL chairman and The Carlyle Group's managing director, Robert Dove, said, “ITSTL will benefit from Steve’s unique blend of industry knowledge and executive management experience in the private equity and public company realms.”

Rubin will be based at ITSTL headquarters in the Chicago area.

“I am excited to join [ITSTL], a company with a great history and brand in the intermodal industry,” Rubin said in a statement. He was named to the ITSTL board.

Ruben succeeds Dwight Johnson, former president and CEO of ITSTL.

ITSTL, which has more than 3,000 employees, is controlled by Carlyle Infrastructure Partners, whose members include The Carlyle Group, and intermodal equipment supplier Mi-Jack Products.

Rubin also was on the management boards of several trade associations.
