Nolan Transportation Group, an Atlanta-based non-asset truckload freight brokerage and third-party logistics service, acquired Eagle Transportation, a Mississippi-based freight brokerage specializing in temperature-controlled shipping, according to a Jan. 17 news release.

The acquisition reflects Nolan’s continued nationwide expansion as a logistics provider with services across transportation modes and with sensitive freight, Nolan said.

The Eagle unit will continue to manage existing customer and carrier relationships, Nolan said.

Nolan said the company is eager to expand in the important segment of temperature-controlled truckload and supply-chain management and services. Eagle Transportation brings cold-chain shipping expertise with a strong emphasis on service levels, audit capabilities, quality management, communication and transparency, Nolan said.

Nolan provides multimodal freight services through a network of partner carriers. Founded in 2005, Nolan offers a wide range of services for customers across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Nolan specializes in both TL and less-than-truckload, as well as expedited, partial, refrigerated, drayage and intermodal. Nolan’s carrier base consists of approximately 30,000 independent carriers that facilitate the movement of its customers’ products.

Nolan operates as a sister company to Transportation Insight, a leading non-asset provider of enterprise logistics solutions. Nolan ranks No. 15 on the Transport Topics list of the top freight brokerage firms in North America. — Transport Topics
