Florida Truckers to Boycott Logistics Firm

About 13,000 truckers intend to boycott Total Quality Logistics from June 28 through July 5 citing concerns over work conditions, the leader of a group representing the truckers told Transport Topics.

“We just want to let them know how disappointed we are,” Robert Buduen, president of CDL911, the Florida-based group organizing the boycott, told TT on June 23.

Buduen said the group is asking TQL to provide assurances pertaining to pay structure. Members of CDL911 include owner-operators from the Florida area. A TQL spokesman told TT the firm was unaware of the boycott. TQL ranks No. 2 on the TT Top Freight Brokerage list.

Aside from the boycott of TQL, a separate group of Florida truckers, calling itself Camioneros USA, announced plans this month to go on a strike from June 25 through July 4.

Camioneros USA’s 2,000 truckers have expressed frustration with work conditions at various logistics firms, not just TQL, a Camioneros USA spokesman told TT recently. Camioneros is Spanish for truckers.

The Florida Trucking Association has indicated the group is not involved in the matter. The Florida Department of Transportation has met with CDL911’s leadership, and a DOT spokesman said the department would relay the group’s concerns to the appropriate federal agencies.
