Container traffic at the Port of Los Angeles increased in September to the highest level in eight years.

Container imports rose 11% to 411,507 20-foot-equivalent units for the month from a year ago, while exports increased 0.2% to 150,679 units.

Total container volume rose 9% to 775,133 TEUs from a year ago, marking the port’s strongest month since August 2006.

The higher volume reflects peak-season volume and larger vessels, the port said.
