David Cobb has been promoted to chief financial officer at ArcBest Corp., succeeding Michael Newcity, who will assume the role of chief innovation officer and president of ArcBest Technologies.

Cobb most recently was chief accounting officer, a position he has held since 2010. A replacement for that position has not been announced.

“Creating a dedicated center for technology and business innovation across all of the ArcBest companies will enable us to continue serving our customers across the supply chain in the way they expect, with the skill and the will to tackle their most complex challenges,” ArcBest CEO Judy McReynolds said in a statement.

“While Michael Newcity now devotes his sole attention to this area, David Cobb’s experience in finance and accounting at ArcBest and other companies will ensure a seamless transition for investors and other financial stakeholders,” McReynolds said in a statement.

Newcity has been with the company for more than 20 years. H has served as manager of e-systems and market development, manager of e-commerce and director of economic analysis.

ArcBest, based in Fort Smith, Arkansas, ranks No. 13 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
